Message from the Secretary, Manthan Yuva Sansthan
In pursuance of the spirit of innovation, enterprise and with the sole objective of capacity building of society through education, communication and skill development, Manthan Yuva Sansthan, a non-profit organization is elated to announce the launching of its new signature, named Institute of Media Studies and Training. I wish to inform you that all the coursewares of the Institute have been designed in participation with practitioners of the concerned industry and the enlightened representatives of the civic society.
As you know, over the past years, our country's industries, including communication industries with no exception to TV or radio have been challenged by competition from both within and outside. Media have had a vital role to play in our transformation, and even more importantly, in our self-perception as a nation. The projection of India as a burgeoning economy and a lucrative marketplace would not have been possible without a dynamic and supportive media.
These new challenges require new and dynamic strategies, structures, processes, innovation and above all, leadership. Our future communicators will have to provide much of these new directions, in exploring new ways of reaching audiences in distinctive and responsible ways.
At the core of IMST's philosophy lies the conviction that we must be multi-skilled and multi-task oriented. We need to translate our dynamism into the knowledge that students acquire with us. Our motto is to keep ourselves abreast of industry trends, and provide quality answers to the demands of industry environment. To do this, we at IMSTalways strive to facilitate the learning environment to create better professionals. We make a humble beginning but with a promise to provide high-quality infrastructure to meet the ever-growing demands of technology, and our uncompromising stand on meeting student requirements.
To bring this to fruition, we have entered into an understanding with trusted names in education in general and media education and training in particular. To give the courseware an international look, we have also signed an MOU with the Canadian Institute of Mass Communication. Our mass communication building, along with the studio, equipment and faculty make IMST to be a promising media institute. I am confident that we will soon be able to transform IMST into one of the most coveted institutes in India. We are constantly striving for excellence and I welcome you to share the same commitment with us.. Therefore, let us join hands to make this new signature your own signature.
Thank you for considering Institute of Media Studies and Training.

Message from the Director, Canadian Institute of Mass Communication (CIMC)
A new era has dawned upon the infant state of Jharkhand, and it is being heralded by an unprecedented communications revolution. The rapid mushrooming of electronic media channels in the region has multifariously impacted the region’s cultural ethnology. At no other time has there been a greater obligation for proletariat institutions to address the vocational training requirements of local broadcasters.
Manthan Yuva Sansthan, one of Jharkhand’s most reputable grassroots organizations, has long served the region through its sustained social programs. Its mission in the field of development communication is to use diverse media programs for social transformation and empowerment. Manthan has a mandate to promote voice to voiceless through sensitization, orientation, capacity building, production of media content, and advocacy through its Institute of Media Studies and Training (IMST).
To strengthen IMST’s initiatives in development communication and media education, Manthan has sought collaboration with the Canadian Institute of Mass Communication (CIMC), a subsidiary of Shails Communication, a Canada based media production company.
The primary objective of CIMC is to promote international collaboration in mass communication, and help its foreign affiliates achieve sustainable growth through multifaceted training, and creation of opportunities for transfer of knowledge and skills. In the area of developmental communication, CIMC's mission is to foster international collaboration in media education, and to facilitate and promote capacity building and technology transfer.
CIMC is very pleased to collaborate with IMST in offering world class Mass Communication training in Ranchi. Through this collaboration, IMST students shall receive associated CIMC diplomas and certificates, in addition to their IMST degrees/diplomas/certificates. CIMC and IMST shall pool resources to develop component modules of mass communication studies as per the evolving educational needs of IMST, and shall mutually decide upon curricula, delivery mode, assessment methodology, etc.
IMST students shall receive convergent media education and experience through on-line facilities which will include the use of videoconferencing technology, such as the ACESS GRID. The collaboration will also facilitate professional internships, training workshops, etc. in Canada for qualified and deserving IMST students.
The goal is to develop a pool of international caliber talent to serve the growing needs of the region’s fast evolving mass media industry.
